Had my first play on the new Photoshop CS5 trial today…
Attempting to create a look that doesnt look too over-worked. I dont think I fully succeeded with this image, but Its certainly worth posting for progress sake.
Comments welcome…

The wrong people to f*%k with…

Spotted in: Valparaíso, Chile.

Valparaiso probably has the most decorated streets, walls, alleys & coast lines that I’ve ever seen. I think its pretty much legal to paint on the walls there, so the place has turned into a global graffiti/street art mecca. It’s also home of Pablo Neruda, one of the worlds greatest and best known poets. I was lucky enough to visit 2 of his houses in Valparaiso high on the hills, and they were both spectacularly eclectic gold mines of nick-naks and antiques.

Modern day ‘Rubin Vase’

This is an old photo, but one I really like…
It’s like a modern day take on the old ‘Rubin Vase/Face’ optical illusion. (thanks to Ines & Romina for this)

Yagua Tribe, Amazon Basin

Towards the end of 2009 I spent a month in Peru, and I was lucky enough to also visit Iquitos located on the Amazon River in the Peruvian rain forest. Iquitos is the largest jungle city thats inaccessible by road.

After a near death experience on the plane over the jungle to get there, I finally arrived and took a trip into the Amazon Jungle. As part of this trip, I was welcomed by some of the Yagua Tribe, and invited to use their trademark blowguns. The Yagua Indians are an indigenous tribe who mainly live in the western Amazon basin. The Yagua people live a simple lifestyle supported by small scale agriculture, fishing and some hunting.

Below are some images taken from this trip to the jungle.

New Website Released

After many late nights, and countless green teas, I’ve finally finished my new photography website www.gareth-james.com. I’ve to put together some collections of photos from my recent travels which are included in the ‘collections’ section, and I will soon be filling the ‘portfolio’ section as and when I grow the collection of images.

This blog is also a new addition, and I aim to keep it updated with new photos on a weekly basis, so please use the RSS functions to keep track of the updates.
